Dozens of people attended a special memorial service in Ledbury Cemetery.

On Sunday, December 17, the chapel in New Street Cemetery opened its doors for the annual candle lighting event.

More than 70 people attended to light a candle for a loved one and write a message to hang on the memory tree.

Ledbury Co-op donated refreshments and mince pies, and Ledbury Poetry provided poems that were made into scrolls that visitors could take home.

The mayor of Ledbury Helen I’Anson was also in attendance, welcoming visitors and helping to provide refreshments.

Ledbury Town Council would like to thank all the volunteers that helped make the day so special, especially Lynette Loader from Co-op Funeral Care and Heather Coppock from Community Action.

“It’s wonderful that the council can support residents by holding this event,” said Cllr I’Anson.

“Lighting a candle in the chapel can bring comfort and solace over the festive period to people who have lost relatives or friends.”
