MALVERN downhill mountain-bike superstar Tracy Moseley kept on track for World Cup glory as she finished third in the latest leg in Canada.

Moseley had to settle for third after qualifying for the race, held in Mount Ste Anne, in second place.

The event also saw Moseley return to the site of her first- ever World Cup race in 1997.

Practice for the race was hampered by heavy rain but this managed to stop the day before the competitors took to the course.

The track dried out surprisingly quickly in a few places, but in other places it was still muddy. Tracy revealed the rain turned the track into one of the hardest Mont Ste Anne tracks she had ever ridden as the mud had made the track rough and when it dried out it became even rougher. Speaking on her website, Moseley said: “My practice definitely took its toll on me, along with a couple of big crashes in practice, I was left feeling a bit fatigued going into the race.

“I qualified in second spot knowing I would have to go faster in the final.

“By the final the track was even drier and I did manage to go five seconds faster, but it was still not my best run of the weekend which was frustrating. “However, I ended up in third spot and claimed some valuable points for the overall standings.”

She now heads to Bromont in Canada this weekend for the next round of the World Cup.

There are then two more rounds of the World Cup to play during the next five weeks in Australia and Austria as she strives for the top prize.

Moseley has been competing for the last 12 years and has been full-time on the UCI World Cup circuit for the last seven years.

She won a previous heat in Scotland in June.
