MALVERN I v FECKENHAM I.
MALVERN maintained their improving form with a convincing win against Feckenham at Regency Road.
The home side batted first and Jon Dovey and Steven Carter, together with fine support from Ollie Bendall and Tom Poole, saw them total 231, which was a reasonable score.
But again a mid-order slump was cause for concern, Carter’s fine effort meant the innings didn’t fall away completely.
In reply, Feckenham started brightly and at 74 without loss, the game was in the balance.
But skipper Anthony Arnold introduced Jon Dovey and Carter into the bowling attack and this move proved to be an inspired one as both bowled superbly to finish with four wickets apiece in their spells at the crease. A fine debut spell from Huw Dimond was also encouraging.
There was good fielding throughout from the home side, though Malvern’s generosity with their extras was again disappointing.
But a 90-run win meant Malvern moved up to fourth in division two of the Worcestershire Crusader County League.
Malvern captain Anthony Arnold hailed his team’s performance.
He said: “This was one of our best performances of the season.
“Hopefully we can take the momentum gained from this game into tomorrow’s match against Romsley and Hunnington, who have always proved to be difficult opponents.”
